Job description

This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy delivering client and industry driven solutions through our 5 core specialist Practices; Software Engineering, Data & Analytics, IT Operations, Change & Transformation, and Risk, Regulation & Compliance.

FDM is seeking a C#/.NET Developer (Application & Database Development) located in Chicago to support a project in the Financial Services sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 12 months but may be extended.

This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office 3 days per week., The client is seeking a highly motivated C#/.NET Developer with strong database development expertise to join our Technology team in Chicago. The successful candidate will design, develop, and support enterprise applications and data solutions that power investment management, portfolio monitoring, operations, finance, risk management, and reporting functions across the firm., * Design, develop, test, and support enterprise applications using C#, .NET, and related Microsoft technologies.

  • Build scalable APIs, services, and backend components to support investment and operational platforms.
  • Design and maintain SQL Server databases, stored procedures, views, functions, and ETL processes.
  • Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and execution plan analysis.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, business analysts, and technology teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Develop data integrations between internal systems and third-party platforms.
  • Create and maintain reporting solutions and data extracts for business users.
  • Participate in application architecture discussions and technology roadmap planning.
  • Support application deployments, troubleshooting, and production issue resolution.
  • Contribute to Agile development practices, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

This role requires a hands-on software engineer who is equally comfortable building scalable .NET applications and designing robust SQL Server database solutions. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, experience working in financial services environments, and a passion for delivering high-quality technology solutions., * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong experience with:
  • C#
  • .NET Framework / .NET Core / .NET 8+
  • ASP.NET MVC and/or ASP.NET Core
  • REST APIs and web services
  • SQL Server
  • T-SQL programming
  • Database design and data modeling
  • Experience developing scalable, maintainable enterprise applications.
  • Strong understanding of relational database architecture and performance tuning.
  • Experience with source control systems such as Git.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills., * Experience within financial services, asset management, private credit, banking, or capital markets.
  • Knowledge of investment management workflows.
