Job description

We’re hiring a junior full-stack developer to work closely with our senior engineer and help build, maintain, and improve our software platforms.

This is a hands-on development role for someone with a strong technical foundation who is eager to learn, take direction, and grow quickly. You’ll contribute across backend development, frontend applications, databases, and cloud infrastructure while receiving guidance and mentorship from an experienced senior developer.

We use AI development tools such as Claude Code and ChatGPT to accelerate development, troubleshoot issues, and improve productivity. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable using these tools while still taking the time to understand the code they produce.

We care more about ability, attitude, problem-solving, and willingness to learn than a specific number of years of experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Work directly with a senior developer to build and maintain application features
  • Develop and support Python backend services and APIs
  • Build and improve React-based web applications and internal tools
  • Assist with AWS deployments, monitoring, and cloud infrastructure
  • Work with PostgreSQL databases, including queries, schema updates, and migrations
  • Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code productively and responsibly
  • Debug issues, review existing code, and help improve system reliability
  • Write tests and technical documentation
  • Participate in code reviews and apply feedback from senior team members
  • Break assigned projects into manageable tasks and communicate progress clearly

Requirements

  • A foundation in Python
  • Experience with React or another modern JavaScript framework
  • Basic understanding of APIs, databases, and web application development
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL or another relational database
  • Some exposure to AWS or a strong willingness to learn
  • Ability to read existing code and understand how different parts of a system work together
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to ask questions, accept feedback, and continuously improve
  • Clear communication and the ability to work collaboratively

Professional experience is helpful, but we will also consider candidates with strong personal projects, internships, freelance work, technical coursework, or a relevant portfolio.

Nice to Have

  • Next.js experience
  • Docker or container-based development
  • Familiarity with Git, pull requests, and code review workflows
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with AWS services such as EC2, ECS, Lambda, S3, or RDS
  • Familiarity with Redis, queues, background jobs, or scheduled processes
  • Experience integrating with external APIs or business systems
  • Basic understanding of application security and monitoring

How We’ll Evaluate Fit

We do not over-index on resumes or years of experience. We care about:

  • Your ability to reason through a technical problem
  • Your understanding of programming fundamentals
  • The quality and clarity of your code
  • Your willingness to learn and accept feedback
  • Your ability to communicate when you are stuck
  • Your ownership, reliability, and follow-through
  • Your ability to use AI tools effectively while verifying and understanding the results
