Job description

Perform exploratory testing of Wi-Fi features across Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) devices, including gateways, routers, and extenders. This role focuses on validating Wi-Fi functionality, performance, stability, and real-world usage scenarios. The successful candidate will investigate edge cases and intermittent issues, analyze logs and packet captures, document high-quality defects, and collaborate closely with development, architecture, and product teams., * Perform exploratory testing of Wi-Fi features across CPE devices (gateways, routers, extenders).

  • Validate SSID creation and management, security modes (WPA2, WPA3, WPS), band steering, client steering, and mesh behavior.
  • Ensure correct functioning of roaming, handoff, and multi-AP scenarios.
  • Test multiple client types, including mobile devices, laptops, IoT devices, and smart TVs, in dense client environments.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues related to interference, channel congestion, and environmental variations.
  • Investigate edge cases, race conditions, and intermittent problems through investigative testing.
  • Validate throughput, latency, and packet loss performance.
  • Conduct long-duration soak testing and stress testing.
  • Share exploratory findings and insights with developers, architects, and product teams.
  • Reproduce complex customer-reported issues and suggest test ideas based on system design.
  • Execute limited scripted and regression testing, with a primary emphasis on unscripted exploratory testing.
  • Log high-quality defects with detailed observations, logs, and reproduction steps.
  • Analyze logs, packet captures, and system traces for effective issue triage.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Wi-Fi fundamentals.
  • Hands-on testing experience with broadband gateways, routers, mesh systems, or extenders.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux-based embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with network and Wi-Fi testing tools.
  • Proficiency with Wi-Fi Standards and Frequencies: 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Wi-Fi 4, Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 6, 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, 6 GHz.
  • Experience with Wi-Fi Features: SSID creation and management, WPA2, WPA3, WPS, Band steering, Client steering, Mesh behavior, Roaming, Handoff, Multi-AP scenarios.
  • Testing Methodologies: Throughput testing, Latency testing, Packet loss testing, Soak testing, Stress testing.
  • Tools: iPerf, Wireshark, tcpdump, Wi-Fi analyzer tools.
  • Device Experience: Broadband gateways, Routers, Mesh systems, Wi-Fi extenders.
