Job description
The Price Publish team is responsible for processing and publishing price changes across the client. The team’s applications power pricing through REST APIs and Kafka-based event processing, ensuring accurate and timely price updates. The team is in the final phase of a major platform modernization (PDEv2), focused on improving scalability, throughput, and performance. This contractor will contribute to both the new architecture and the existing production platform while helping deliver new business capabilities. This is a senior individual contributor role requiring the ability to quickly understand an established codebase, work independently, and collaborate effectively with engineering teams across the U.S. and India., The successful contractor will: Quickly become productive within the existing Price Publish platform Contribute to the continued development of the PDEv2 architecture Develop scalable backend services supporting high-volume price processing Build and enhance Kafka-based event processing solutions Design and maintain reliable REST APIs Collaborate effectively with engineers across U.S. and India-based teams Deliver high-quality, production-ready code with minimal supervision, Work Arrangement: Must be available to participate in meetings during (Central Time) business hours
Requirements
Senior-level experience developing enterprise applications using Java Professional experience with Kotlin or the ability to quickly become productive in Kotlin Strong experience building distributed backend services using Apache Kafka, including producer and consumer implementations Experience designing, developing, and supporting high-volume RESTful APIs Strong experience with relational databases such as Oracle and/or PostgreSQL Familiarity working with distributed NoSQL databases such as Cassandra Experience working within large, existing enterprise applications and contributing with minimal onboarding Ability to independently troubleshoot, develop, test, and deliver production-quality software Strong communication and collaboration skills in a distributed Agile environment
Preferred Skills Experience with modular monorepo architectures Experience working in framework-light or framework-free Java applications Experience with RocksDB Experience supporting high-throughput, event-driven, or large-scale distributed systems Retail, pricing, or eCommerce platform experience, Strong recent Java backend development experience Hands-on Kafka experience in production environments Experience building scalable distributed systems and REST APIs The ability to independently contribute to complex enterprise applications Clear examples of architecture, design, or ownership responsibilities
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Must Have Ability to ramp up quickly on an existing system and contribute with minimal guidance Ability to work closely and collaborate effectively with the TII team Good database experience with Oracle Exadata, PostgreSQL, and Cassandra Senior-level development experience in Java and Kotlin, Senior-level experience in building and supporting REST APIs Senior-level experience with Kafka, including consumer and producer implementations Strong team collaboration and communication skills
Nice To Have Experience with modular monorepo architecture Experience with RocksDB Experience working on framework-free codebases
