Job description
We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer II to join our Engineering Manufacturing team in Fort Worth, TX. In this role, you will primarily support the integration and deployment of a Manufacturing Execution System (MES). You will serve as a vital technical bridge between manufacturing operations, quality, automation, IT, and validation teams.
Working closely with the MES Ops Team, you will help adhere to project schedules by integrating various machines and processes into the MES system, with a specific focus on PLC programming and OPC connection to the Siemens Opcenter MES system., * System Integration: Manage the installation of automation systems while ensuring safety and validating adherence to requirements, CGMPs, and intended system operation.
- MES & Connectivity: Lead the end-to-end implementation of manufacturing MES systems from requirements definition through production rollout. Design machine connectivity architecture (PLC, sensors, edge devices, historians) to collect accurate production and downtime data.
- PLC & SCADA Programming: Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems (specifically Allen-Bradley PLCs and Ignition SCADA).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interact with production supervisors and managers to identify opportunities to improve equipment throughput, flexibility, quality, safety, and reliability. Ensure consistent MES logic and metrics across manufacturing lines.
- Technical Support: Support Automation Technicians when troubleshooting or technology falls outside their area of expertise.
- Project Execution: Plan and execute engineering project work with minimal supervision, managing equipment/process control systems and change control activities.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Systems integration?, * Hands-on Programming: Proven experience programming PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems, with specific expertise in Allen-Bradley (A-B) PLCs and Ignition SCADA.
- MES Integration: Strong technical understanding of MES concepts, manufacturing processes, PLC-based automation, and machine data collection/mapping (PLCs, SCADA, & OPC).
- Process Improvement: Ability to design and implement modifications to existing manufacturing equipment to improve operational efficiencies.
Preferred Experience
- Direct experience with Siemens Opcenter MES integration.
- Strong understanding of GMP change control in a regulated manufacturing environment.
