Job description
We are looking for an experienced, strong, self-motivated software development manager who is excited to solve database problems, handle people management and product prioritization. You will enable and support the engineers on the team to design and deliver new features that drive Neptune’s high availability, reliability and performance guarantees to AWS customers. You will participate in project execution to develop cutting-edge database service capabilities while working with amazing team members and stakeholders.
A day in the life
· Lead the development of cloud-native database
· Design, implement, test, and deploy database services optimized for cloud environments
· Mentor engineers and managers while contributing hands-on technical work
· Drive technical decisions, design tradeoffs, and feature prioritization
· Partner with senior executives to define business targets and resource planning
· Build and scale engineering teams through recruitment and talent development
· Shape technical strategy to deliver innovative solutions for customers
Requirements
- 5+ years of engineering team management experience
- 10+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of leading development of applications backed by AWS services or using other cloud based technologies and services experience
- 10+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
