Job description

Alpine Lock and Safe is a locally owned business with two divisions serving the Vail Valley: our architectural hardware showroom, where builders, designers, and homeowners select door hardware, cabinet hardware, and finish hardware for residential and commercial projects; and our locksmithing services division, providing professional lock installation, rekeying, repair, and access solutions in the field. The Hardware Showroom Manager sits at the center of both - running the daily operations that keep our showroom welcoming and our service work flowing., * Showroom Reception: Welcome visitors to the showroom warmly, determine whether their needs are hardware selection or locksmith service, provide basic product and service information, and connect them with the appropriate sales or technical staff.

  • Phones: Answer and route incoming calls for both divisions professionally; take accurate messages, answer common questions about products and services, and follow up so no customer inquiry falls through the cracks.
  • Work Order Entry & Scheduling: Enter new work orders accurately and completely; build and maintain the locksmith service schedule, confirm appointments with customers, and communicate changes to field technicians.
  • Bookkeeping & Invoice Filing: Perform light bookkeeping tasks including filing invoices, matching invoices to purchase orders and receiving records, and keeping organized, audit-ready files (paper and digital) for both divisions.
  • Receiving & Vendor Reconciliation: Receive incoming hardware packages and freight; cross-check contents against packing slips and purchase orders for correct items, finishes, and quantities; maintain detailed receiving records; and identify, document, and resolve discrepancies directly with vendors.
  • General Operations & Upkeep: Keep the showroom and front office presentable and well-organized; support the team with general administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience in office administration, showroom or retail operations, front desk, or customer service
  • Strong attention to detail, especially with part numbers, finishes, quantities, and records
  • Professional, friendly phone manner and in-person presence
  • Comfortable with computers: email, calendars, spreadsheets, and learning our work order / point-of-sale software
  • Ability to organize competing tasks and stay accurate in a busy, interruption-heavy environment
  • As you develop expertise in hardware product knowledge and prove yourself in scheduling coordination, we invest in your growth through increased compensation.

We need someone to run the showroom operations-take calls, manage the schedule, handle shipment reconciliation, keep the books tidy, and make sure customers get routed to the right person. It’s detail work mixed with customer interaction. If you’re organized, accurate, and comfortable with interruptions, we’d like to talk.
