Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to support a 33kV electrical infrastructure project based in Inverness on an initial 6-month contract. This is a predominantly site-based role, with some regional travel required. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe control and operation of high-voltage electrical networks, including outage planning, switching programmes, isolation and earthing, HV testing and the issue of relevant safety documentation., * Plan HV outages and produce switching programmes, liaising with System and Local Control.

  • Make dead, isolate and earth 33kV HV electrical networks.
  • Carry out HV testing and fault location activities.
  • Issue and manage Safety Documents, Permits to Work and Sanctions for Test (SFT).
  • Ensure all HV operations are completed safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Supervise Jointer and Fitter teams and provide technical guidance to site personnel.
  • Lead and promote a positive safety culture, including reviewing RAMS, delivering inductions and toolbox talks, conducting site inspections and supporting incident investigations.
  • Support clients and project teams with technical HV advice and engineering solutions.
  • Mentor trainee SAPs, support HV operational training and monitor trainee progress.
  • Maintain high standards of operational safety, competency and compliance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) within HV electrical networks.
  • Strong 33kV experience.
  • Experience with HV switching, isolation and earthing.
  • Experience issuing HV Safety Documents, Permits to Work and SFTs.
  • HV testing and fault location experience.
  • Experience supervising HV teams, including Jointers and Fitters.
  • Strong understanding of HV safety procedures and RAMS.
  • Willingness to travel regionally.
  • Flexibility for occasional weekend working and on-call rota duties.
