Job description

  • Design, implement, and maintain integrating monitoring and alerting tools, leveraging existing tools and logging.
  • Monitoring is happening at all levels in the application stack. Expand existing automation tools to streamline onboarding.
  • Collaborate with various internal teams to provide the best service possible for our customers.
  • Evaluate new technologies to enhance the level of customer service.

Details:

  • Main task is the migration of alert definitions from splunk to newrelic or prometheus.
  • Alert definitions are currently available and defined as code.
  • As part of the task, the defined alerts need to be walked through with the service owning teams to determine whether they are still up-to-date and meaningful, and to determine whether they can be migrated to more efficient metric-based alerts (NewRelic, Prometheus) or more efficient Splunk queries. This may involve analyzing the available metrics in the Java code base.
  • As another part of the task, splunk dashboards and indexed fields definitions currently defined in a custom configuration-as-code format need to be migrated to terraform.

Requirements

  • Splunk
  • NewRelic
  • Prometheus
  • Terraform
  • Github
  • English language proficiency

Bonus Skills:

  • Grafana
  • Java programming language (for working on service instrumentation)
  • German language skills

Education:

  • BSc or comparable work experience
