Job description
We are IT Recruitment Specialists partnered with a massive Global Consultancy who require a Devops Engineer for one of their clients. This will be a 6-month contract based in London.
The Platform Operations Engineer is accountable to the Director of Platform Operations, key responsibilities include:

- Learning the client’s and Legal Anywhere’ s products and services and providing 1st -3rd level support
- Day-to-day operational and functional support of the client’s applications and the underlying infrastructure following established processes and procedures.
- Own and provide level 3 technical analysis / support for customer incident tickets
- Quickly respond to high impact application incident / service outages, to assist in issue diagnosis and service restoration
- Carry out release deployments for the application
- Liaising with the development team and support team to provide solutions to problems or issues.
- Provide deep dive analysis on application problems, document root cause, assist in the creation of incident reports and suggest / help implement proactive activities to help avoid future occurrence.
- Maintaining application stability and integrity by Identifying enhancements to improve supportability, operability or performance of supported application(s)
- Setting up servers and applications according to specifications
- Identify and help implement continuous improvement initiatives within the IT Operations team
- Platform performance monitoring and optimisation including networking layer, storage layer, OS/Application layer. Identify bottlenecks single points of failure etc.
- Complete assigned project work within defined timescales
- Monitoring and responding to alerts from applications and infrastructure systems.
- Identify and assist in the development of the knowledge base documents to help streamline and the restoration of all issues.
- Microsoft Windows Server 2016 administration, troubleshooting
- Strong experience of multi-site high availability design, configuration and administration of Microsoft Windows Server 2016 virtual infrastructure
- Virtual networking (Hyper-V)
- Hyper-V clustering technologies e.g. Failover Clustering, Cluster Shared Storage, Storage Spaces Direct, iSCSI, RDMA
- Assist in the continual improvement of the infrastructure, network monitoring and alerting systems
- Assist in the design, implementation and testing of the client’s High Availability and disaster recovery systems across multiple datacentres around the globe.
- Participate in the creation and maintenance of the technical architecture and operational documentation
- Administration and maintenance of firewall and switches, VLANs, NIC teaming, LACP The candidate
Requirements
- Self-starter, methodical, collaborative, comfortable taking ownership, adapting to change and learning quickly in a fast-paced team with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Windows Server 2016, Hyper-V, System Centre Suite, PowerShell, PowerShell DSC. DNS / AD.
- Various storage system experience (fibre, iSCSI, CSV’s, Storage Spaces, Local)
- Designing and implementing virtual networking infrastructure and the ability to carry out low level troubleshooting.
- Ability to analyse application and server logs, error interpretation
- To work well under pressure, both autonomously and as part of a team
- Proven problem-solving ability
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Experience with automation and configuration management tools like PowerShell DCS, Ansible, CHEF, Puppet
- Experience developing and implementing logging and monitoring systems like ELK, SPLUNK, NAGIOS, SCOM etc

Data centre experience. Cable management, rack mounting, etc. Essential Skills
- Typically 5 years’ experience of supporting web application systems
- Experience of ITIL processes and practises
- Thorough and logical with attention to detail
- Experience managing the operating applications in Azure and AWS
- Good understanding of Infrastructure technical architecture
