Job description

Job Description for front desk/optometric technician. Technician is responsible for conducting pre-testing and special testing. Technician also performs preliminary case history, visual acuities, assist doctor, and conducts diagnostic testing including visual fields, OCT, topography, and retinal photography as well as perform the duties of the front desk., · Provide exceptional customer service.

· Schedule patient exams according to template.

· Triage eye and vision emergencies for scheduling.

· Collect complete demographic, contact, and insurance information on patients

· Assist with patient check in and check out.

· Log patient arrivals and collect patients’ medical insurance cards, forms, copays, and outstanding balances.

· Processes patient’s information and helps maintain the operation of the reception.

· Manages continuous patient flow by effectively communicating with team members and providers.

· Prepares referrals, work and/or school excuse letters, written prescriptions for providers to sign.

· Conducts inventory of supplies and stocks examination rooms. Verifies and maintains stock level and recommends disposal for all expired supply items.

· Disinfects and wipes down all equipment and instruments.

· Contact lens insertion/removal training and contact lens sales.

· Performs other duties as assigned based on the needs of the business.

Requirements

· Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

· Effective team player. With very good interpersonal relationship skills and can work and relate well with doctor, co-employees, patients and customers.

· Outstanding oral and written communication skills.

· Strong ethics and a high level of personal and professional integrity.

· Computer literate and very highly proficient in using MS office programs

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Maintain professional and organized work environment

· Perform opening and closing duties as appropriate

· Demonstrate proper attendance, demonstrate effective time management, and manages paid time off hours wisely.

· Other duties as assigned, including tasks which support the essential functions and may be changed or redesigned

· Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time (up to 8 hours per day per scheduled shift)

· Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist

· Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to approximately 25 lbs

· Maintain professional appearance and good hygiene

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

· High level of interaction with general public

· Work is independent and with patients

· Environment is often fast-paced and deadline oriented

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

· High School Diploma or Equivalent

· Experience working in retail, customer service, or sales

· Experience working in the optical industry
