In addition, The WTD evaluates, procures, and implements appropriate technology tools to support agency goals as well as promoting continuous improvement in operations.

NMDWS WTD is actively expanding its quality assurance capabilities to address a growing range of testing needs, including ADA compliance, automated regression, performance testing, and CI/CD pipeline integration. Over the past year, these focus areas have significantly increased in scope, alongside rising demands across all supported applications.

This position is needed to provide additional operational support for ongoing QA activities, as well as to help design and implement solutions that improve efficiency, expand test coverage, and enhance overall software quality. How does it get done?

The IT QA Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test solutions to ensure the quality, performance, and accessibility of NMDWS WTD applications. This includes creating and executing automated regression tests, supporting ADA compliance validation, and contributing to performance and load testing efforts.

The role will also focus on integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and faster, more reliable releases. In addition, the SDET will collaborate closely with developers, QA analysts, and product teams to identify test requirements, troubleshoot defects, and improve overall test coverage. This position serves The State of New Mexico and its citizens, employers, staff, and third party administrators. This position works closely with staff to perform requirements gathering, analysis, software development, and testing in all phases of the software development life cycle.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in software programming. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
