Job description

We are looking for a skilled DevOps Engineer to architect, secure, and scale our cloud infrastructure. In this role, you will take ownership of our core infrastructure, ensuring our systems remain reliable, highly available, and strictly compliant with healthcare security standards.

You will work with the HashiCorp ecosystem (Terraform, Nomad, Vault) on Linode, building out robust CI/CD pipelines and secure data pipelines for sensitive electronic health records (EHR). If you have a deep respect for Linux automation, network security, and compliance-driven engineering, this role is built for you.

What You Will Do

  • Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain HIPAA compliance requirements across all infrastructure, ensuring secure handling, transfer, and storage of EHR data.
  • Secrets Management: Deploy, configure, and manage HashiCorp Vault for centralized secrets, encryption as a service, and identity-based access control.
  • Network & Tunneling Architecture: Design and maintain robust networking architectures, including Site-to-Site IPSEC tunnels, secure VPNs, and data routing between external healthcare providers and internal systems.
  • B2B SFTP File Sharing: Architect, secure, and maintain SFTP infrastructure for automated, business-to-business (B2B) file sharing and EHR data exchange with external partners, vendors, and clients.
  • CI/CD & Automation: Build, optimize, and maintain automated deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions to accelerate testing, delivery, and infrastructure updates.
  • Linux Systems Administration: Perform deep-dive troubleshooting, performance tuning, and day-to-day administration of Linux-based servers and environments.
  • General DevOps & SRE Duties: Participate in system monitoring, alerting, log management, backup auditing, and on-call rotation to ensure high system uptime and disaster recovery readiness.

Requirements

  • Location & Eligibility: You are currently residing in the United States and legally authorized to work without sponsorship.
  • Core Systems: Extensive, hands-on experience in Linux systems administration, bash scripting, and server hardening.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure as Code: Proven experience managing infrastructure on Linode (Akamai Cloud) and writing production-grade Terraform code.
  • HashiCorp Stack: Demonstrated production experience working with Nomad for scheduling/orchestration and HashiCorp Vault for secrets management.
  • B2B File Exchange & Networking: Documented experience setting up and managing secure B2B SFTP workflows for third-party file sharing, alongside configuring VPNs, and IPSEC tunnels.
  • Healthcare & Regulated Data: Previous experience working within HIPAA-regulated environments, with an understanding of EHR systems, integrations, and the security boundaries required for Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • CI/CD: Practical experience designing and maintaining modern continuous integration and deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions.

Benefits & conditions

$100,000 - $150,000 a year - Full-time
