Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced IT Manager to lead a team responsible for the administration, support, security, and ongoing improvement of the organization’s enterprise systems and infrastructure.

This position will provide hands-on leadership to Systems Administrators and Engineers while partnering with IT leadership, Security, and other technical teams to maintain reliable, secure, and well-supported technology environments. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing people, coordinating technical work, improving processes, and stepping in to help make critical decisions when needed.

Important Candidate Requirements

  • Candidates must currently reside within approximately one hour of Knoxville, TN.
  • Candidates must be able to successfully complete the company’s required background and credit checks., * Lead and manage a team of IT Systems Administrators and Engineers responsible for enterprise infrastructure and systems support.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, and professional development to direct reports.
  • Help establish priorities, coordinate workloads, and ensure team responsibilities are completed within established service level expectations.
  • Monitor the overall health, availability, performance, and operational condition of infrastructure systems.
  • Oversee routine system monitoring, log reviews, scheduled job verification, and other activities necessary to maintain system reliability.
  • Partner with Information Security and other IT teams to implement and maintain security improvements, system updates, patches, and related infrastructure changes.
  • Help ensure established security policies and procedures are consistently followed across the IT environment.
  • Oversee activities related to system security and integrity, including configuration backups, recovery processes, access rights, port security, access list verification, and related controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve team performance, operational efficiency, processes, and service quality.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage technology projects involving infrastructure improvements, system enhancements, or the implementation of new technologies.
  • Collaborate with technical leadership to identify training needs and support the development of end-user training for new and existing technologies, products, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and address performance or disciplinary matters when necessary.
  • Maintain awareness of current IT priorities, emerging technologies, and new hardware and software being introduced within the organization.
  • Serve as a backup to other IT leadership when needed, including participating in meetings and making operational decisions in their absence.
  • Participate in relevant training, seminars, and conferences to stay current with evolving technologies and best practices.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by IT leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in IT management or a comparable combination of education and professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, supervising, or developing technical IT professionals.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Azure Active Directory.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts, including LAN, WAN, wireless networking, and VPN technologies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.
  • Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize competing initiatives, manage technical projects, and work effectively across IT teams., * Are you able to pass a credit and background check?
