Job description

Support the development of advanced defense modeling and simulation capabilities by driving systems engineering, requirements development, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) efforts supporting evolving missile defense threats. Join the Threat Analysis and Simulation Development (TASD) team where you’ll develop systems engineering solutions, technical documentation, and simulation environments that enable accurate representation of current and future threat scenarios supporting national defense missions.

  • Lead requirements derivation and capability analysis activities that translate mission needs into technical solutions supporting advanced modeling and simulation environments.
  • Develop and maintain Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) models that support system architecture, requirements traceability, verification, and software development activities.
  • Research missile defense architectures, space-based sensing technologies, threat trajectories, and emerging operational capabilities to support system development and engineering analysis.
  • Collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, and modeling & simulation teams to ensure engineering solutions align with program objectives and customer requirements.
  • Develop and refine systems engineering processes, workflows, and technical procedures that improve engineering efficiency and program execution.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, system specifications, engineering artifacts, interface documentation, and user guides supporting simulation capabilities.
  • Analyze engineering and simulation data to validate system behavior, identify trends, and support data-driven technical decisions.
  • Develop scripts and automation tools using Python, MATLAB, C++, or similar technologies to improve engineering analysis and workflow efficiency.
  • Present technical briefings to government customers, program leadership, and engineering teams regarding system capabilities, engineering progress, and technical recommendations.
  • Support user training, simulation tool orientation, and customer adoption activities while providing technical guidance to program stakeholders.
  • Work independently while contributing to multidisciplinary Agile engineering teams supporting complex missile defense modeling and simulation initiatives.
  • Support occasional travel (up to 10%) to participate in customer engagements, technical reviews, and program activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience; OR
  • Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience; OR
  • PhD in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related experience.
  • Practical experience supporting or analyzing military Modeling & Simulation (M&S) environments or frameworks.
  • Experience performing data analysis, scripting, or automation using Python, MATLAB, C++, or similar programming languages.
  • Advanced understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts and systems engineering methodologies.
  • Experience developing engineering models using Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or comparable SysML-based MBSE tools.
  • Experience developing systems engineering artifacts supporting software development and system verification.
  • Strong analytical, technical writing, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex engineering concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to execute technical tasks independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% in support of customer and program requirements.
  • Active in-scope DoD Secret security clearance required at time of application with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

  • Experience supporting Missile Defense Agency (MDA) ground testing, flight testing, wargaming, or operational evaluation events.
  • Knowledge of missile defense systems, space-based sensing architectures, orbital mechanics, threat modeling, or space surveillance concepts.
  • Experience supporting advanced defense Modeling & Simulation (M&S) programs.
  • Experience working within Agile and Scrum software development environments.
  • Experience supporting systems engineering efforts within classified defense programs.
  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) eligibility.

Benefits & conditions

  • Premium Health, Dental & Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) with 6% Company Match
  • Flexible PTO & Work Schedule
  • Education & Certification Reimbursement
  • Support for Military Leave
  • Work-Life Balance & Traditional Family Values
