Job description
British Transport Police have an opportunity for a Digital Workplace Engineer to join the Technology Department. As a key part of the Digital Workplace Solutions Team with BTP, you will be instrumental in supporting the development of secure and robust solutions within Microsoft Power Platform, as well as delivering solutions that make the best use of our M365 E5 licencing, and the capabilities of Azure.
You will join the team at a time of growth, initially supporting the delivery of a new case file management platform.
What you’ll be doing:
- Provide 3rd line technical expertise for Microsoft 365, Power Platform, SharePoint, Teams, Copilot and Digital Workplace services within an ITIL environment.
- Design, develop and support solutions using Power Platform, Dataverse, SharePoint Online, Copilot Studio, AI Agents and Microsoft 365 technologies.
- Develop model-driven and canvas apps, automations, integrations and intelligent solutions that improve business processes and employee experience.
- Act as a technical consultant, identifying opportunities to maximise value from Microsoft 365, AI, automation and low-code technologies.
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver secure, scalable and user-focused solutions.
- Support the adoption of Copilot, AI Agents, chatbots and intelligent automation, while promoting best practice governance, security and compliance.
- Develop integrations using APIs, PowerShell, .NET, C#, JavaScript, TypeScript and React.
- Enhance FreshService and other business platforms through automation, self-service and process improvements.
- Ensure solutions are tested, documented and approved in line with internal standards.
- Manage incidents, service requests and problem investigations to agreed SLAs and support wider Digital Workplace workstreams.
- Monitor platform adoption, performance and user feedback to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
Requirements
- Proven experience delivering solutions using Power Platform, Dataverse and Microsoft 365 technologies.
- Experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, SharePoint Online, Teams, Copilot and Copilot Studio.
- Experience building or supporting AI Agents, chatbots, intelligent automation and low-code solutions.
- Experience with C#, .NET, PowerShell, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JSON, REST APIs, TypeScript and React.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft 365, Azure, Identity and Access Management, security and governance.
- Knowledge of Power Platform governance, ALM, licensing, AI governance, data protection and compliance requirements.
- Experience working in a regulated or similar enterprise environment.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, presentation, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- A passion for innovation, automation and improving employee experience.

- Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900), * PL-200 Power Platform Functional Consultant
- PL-400 Power Platform Developer
- MS-102 Microsoft 365 Administrator
- AZ-900 Azure Fundamentals
- AI-900 Azure AI Fundamentals
- Copilot Studio, AI Agent and Power Automate Applied Skills certifications, Vetting- Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Security Clearance checks (SC) (5 years minimum UK residency required), including full background and financial disclosure.
