Job description

You will explore and develop novel methods for non-contact Specular Photoplethysmography (SPG), helping to push forward next-generation physiological sensing technologies that require no skin contact. You will work hands-on with optical systems, signal processing, and data analysis to uncover how subtle light reflections can reveal rich bio signals.

Main tasks:

  • Explore further analyses of video images collected for SPG extraction
  • Contribute on evaluating and validating an SPG system for its use in an actual settings
  • Implement and refine signal-processing pipelines to extract physiological features (e.g., pulse waveforms, timing metrics)
  • Support documentation and safety tests activities for SPG systems

You will join a multidisciplinary and supportive team at imec where engineers, researchers, and designers collaborate to push the boundaries of next-generation sensing technologies. Requirements

  • You are currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Understanding of signal processing techniques. Nice to have knowledge of optics or physiological measurements
  • Experience with Python for data analysis
  • Interest in experimental work, including setting up measurement systems and collecting data
  • A proactive mindset, willingness to learn, and ability to work independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team
