Job description
We are looking for a Data Engineer / Data Migration & Quality Specialist to help turn messy, fragmented data into clean, usable systems that support dashboards, reporting, workflow automation, and AI-enabled tools.
This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working with real-world data from spreadsheets, CSV files, form exports, legacy systems, disconnected databases, PDFs, and manual reports.
You will work closely with our AI engineers, UX designers, full-stack developers, and project leads to support public-sector and community-serving technology projects.
Responsibilities
Depending on the project, you may help with:
- Clean and standardize Excel, CSV, database exports, and other messy datasets
- Migrate data from spreadsheets, legacy systems, forms, or older tools into structured databases
- Design practical data models for dashboards, reporting tools, and workflow systems
- Create data dictionaries, field mappings, and technical documentation
- Build or support ETL / ELT workflows
- Connect data sources to dashboards, web apps, or internal tools
- Improve data quality, consistency, deduplication, and validation
- Prepare data for AI-assisted reporting, summarization, or search workflows
- Support recurring reports, grant reporting, program dashboards, and operational analytics
- Work with developers to make sure backend data structures support useful front-end dashboards and workflows

- Grant reporting dashboards
- Community health or outreach dashboards
- Intake and referral tracking systems
- Public service or community resource platforms
- AI-assisted report generation
- Program outcome and impact tracking
- Data migration from spreadsheets into structured systems

Location & Work Arrangement
This is a remote, contract / project-based role, with preference for candidates based in North America.
OlenArc operates remotely with a presence in Arizona and active project relationships across Alaska, Tribal and Native-serving communities, nonprofits, and broader U.S. public-sector networks.
Most collaboration will happen remotely through online meetings, shared documents, project management tools, and development workflows. Occasional availability for partner meetings, conferences, or in-person collaboration in Arizona, Alaska, or other U.S. locations may be helpful but is not required unless tied to a specific project.
Engagement Type
This is a contract / project-based role with flexible part-time hours, typically estimated at 5-20 hours per week, depending on project needs.
We are building a bench of qualified collaborators for upcoming government, Tribal, nonprofit, and federal subcontracting opportunities. Some projects may begin quickly, while others may depend on contract timelines, teaming arrangements, or awarded work.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Tableau?, We are looking for someone with experience in some of the following:
- SQL and relational databases
- Python for data cleaning, automation, or scripting
- Advanced Excel / Google Sheets data cleanup
- CSV, JSON, API, and database integrations
- ETL / ELT workflows
- PostgreSQL, MySQL, Supabase, BigQuery, Snowflake, Airtable, or similar tools
- Dashboard data preparation for Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, Retool, Metabase, or custom web dashboards
- Data validation, deduplication, normalization, and documentation
- Working with messy real-world operational data
- Communicating clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice to have:
- Experience with government, nonprofit, healthcare, Tribal, or public-sector data
- Experience supporting federal, state, local, or Tribal government projects
- Familiarity with grants, program reporting, community services, health programs, or public benefits
- Experience preparing data for AI / LLM-based workflows
- Familiarity with secure data handling and privacy-conscious development
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Experience with data visualization and dashboard design

- Flexible schedule, Compensation is expected to range from $45-$85 per hour, depending on experience, availability, project scope, and contract requirements.
Higher rates may be considered for candidates with strong public-sector, federal contracting, data migration, cloud, dashboard, or AI workflow experience.
