Job description
The Technical Support Specialist will provide frontline technical support to end users, maintain desktop and audiovisual systems, troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, and assist with the implementation of new technologies. This role requires strong customer service skills, technical expertise, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks while delivering timely solutions., * Provide technical support for desktop and laptop computers, printers, wireless connectivity, eFax, VoIP, and audiovisual equipment.
- Respond to help desk requests by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
- Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade computer workstations and peripheral devices.
- Perform minor equipment repairs and coordinate vendor services when necessary.
- Document service requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions within the IT ticketing system.
- Maintain inventory records for computers, audiovisual equipment, and software licenses.
- Support classroom technology, presentations, meetings, and campus events, including occasional after-hours support.
- Assist with technology rollouts, equipment installations, and system upgrades.
- Report system issues to vendors and monitor progress through resolution.
- Provide one-on-one technical training and support to end users.
- Train and support part-time IT and audiovisual technicians.
- Research and recommend hardware and software solutions that align with organizational standards.
- Follow established IT policies, procedures, and security best practices.
- Perform additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field OR a minimum of 2 years of hands-on IT support experience.
- Experience supporting Windows and Mac operating systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, and Group Policies.
- Understanding of LAN, WAN, VPN, Wi-Fi, and VoIP technologies.
- Experience supporting audiovisual equipment in a networked environment is preferred.
- Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
- Experience maintaining IT inventory and documentation.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, MCSE, or MCITP are a plus.
