Job description

As a Remanufacturing Technician, you are responsible for the disassembly, inspection, rebuild, and repair of commercial washers and dryers, restoring them to reliable, service-ready condition. Following established standard operating procedures (SOPs) for each machine model, you ensure every step-from teardown to final testing-is completed with precision and consistency.

You play a critical role in delivering high-quality workmanship by identifying wear, replacing components to standard, and ensuring each machine meets performance and durability expectations before it leaves your station. Your ability to follow process, apply technical skill, and take ownership of quality directly impacts the reliability our customers depend on., Diagnostics and Repair

  • Follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) for each machine model to diagnose, disassemble, rebuild, and test equipment.
  • Inspect, clean, repair, and replace components based on defined refurbishment standards.
  • Identify worn or damaged parts and ensure only quality components are used in rebuilds.
  • Perform functional testing to confirm machines meet performance and reliability standards before moving to the next stage.
  • Take ownership of the quality of each machine with strong attention to detail.

Production Workflow & Material Flow

  • Move machines and components through each stage of the remanufacturing process in alignment with production flow.
  • Stage parts, tools, and equipment to support efficient workflow and minimize downtime.
  • Communicate delays, defects, or material shortages that impact production output.
  • Support team throughput by staying flexible and assisting in different areas as needed.

Warehouse & Workstation Organization

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace using 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
  • Ensure tools, parts, and materials are properly stored and easily accessible.
  • Keep work areas free of clutter and hazards to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Participate in ongoing efforts to improve workstation layout and organization.

Documentation & Technology Use

  • Accurately track work completed using scanning tools, systems, and required documentation.
  • Record parts usage, repairs performed, and machine status in real time.
  • Follow all documentation standards to ensure visibility and traceability of work.

Safety Compliance

  • Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely (certification required where applicable).
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings, equipment movement, and potential hazards in the facility.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses.
  • Follow building safety standards, including designated walkways, staging areas, and restricted access zones.

Tools & Equipment Care

  • Use tools and equipment properly and safely.
  • Maintain tools in good working condition and report any damage or issues.
  • Ensure shared equipment is returned and available for team use.

Other Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; or 1-3 years related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Skilled at servicing common mechanical problems.
  • Demonstrate effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, schematics, installation guidelines and specifications.
  • Computer, smart phone, and tablet skills.

Special Requirements, Licenses, or Certificates

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Forklift Certification required.

Physical Requirements

  • Specific physical demands may vary based on assigned geography or equipment.
  • Ability to maneuver machines weighing up to 450 lbs. with proper equipment.
  • Ability to maneuver in restrictive areas; often squatting, kneeling, crawling, and reaching overhead, while lifting, holding, and maneuvering tools or service parts.
  • Ability to maneuver a washer or dryer while properly secured to a hand truck.
