Design Engineer- Atlanta, GA, 30308

The Engineer I role is an entry-level engineering position responsible for supporting the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of power generation and related industrial systems. This position applies engineering principles, design criteria, and software applications to develop engineering solutions, support construction activities, and ensure compliance with company and industry standards. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, construction, maintenance, plant operations, and contractor teams while contributing to the safe and reliable execution of capital and maintenance projects., Engineering & Design

• Apply engineering processes, design standards, and software tools to support the design and construction of power generation and related systems.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering estimates, design alternatives, and construction specifications.
• Develop and modify mechanical and electrical design drawings, including Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Perform field walkdowns and review existing systems to collect design information and validate project requirements.
• Mark up and update mechanical and electrical drawings to support engineering design changes.

Project Support

• Support planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Estimate materials and equipment requirements for assigned projects.
• Prepare and transmit construction packages and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and vendors to ensure project objectives are met.

Contractor Oversight & Quality Assurance

• Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews of contractor-developed design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages.
• Verify adherence to company engineering standards, specifications, and applicable industry requirements.
• Review contractor deliverables for technical accuracy, completeness, and constructability.

Operational Support

• Support construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operations.
• Understand the functions and responsibilities of departments involved in design, construction, maintenance, and operations.
• Support the development and continuous improvement of engineering standards and design criteria.

Safety

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by placing safety as the highest priority in all work activities.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 0-5 years of related engineering experience.
• Ability to understand and apply engineering principles, standards, and procedures.
• Basic knowledge of engineering design software and CAD applications.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build relationships with plant personnel, engineering staff, contractors, and vendors.

Required Experience & Skills

• Experience performing field walkdowns and marking up mechanical drawings.
• Experience creating and modifying mechanical P&IDs using CAD software.
• Introductory engineering knowledge and ability to apply fundamental engineering concepts.
• Basic problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to make routine decisions within established procedures under supervisory guidance.
• Understanding of engineering design practices, work processes, and technical documentation.
