Job description

We are seeking experienced Desktop Refresh Technicians to support a desktop replacement initiative. Technicians will be responsible for replacing existing desktop computers and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) devices, validating user functionality, migrating settings, documenting installations, and preparing retired equipment for recycling., Desktop Refresh & Deployment

  • Replace designated desktop computers and VDI devices according to provided asset lists.
  • Verify equipment eligibility using device serial numbers.
  • Install and connect new hardware, monitors, peripherals, and power supplies.
  • Perform workstation setup and cable management.
  • Ensure users can access all required applications, data, and peripherals before project completion.

User Data & Application Validation

  • Verify OneDrive synchronization status prior to replacement.
  • Assist with migration of browser bookmarks and saved credentials when required.
  • Validate user access to business-critical applications and resources.
  • Confirm successful operation of printers and connected peripherals.

Peripheral & Device Testing

  • Printers
  • Credit card readers
  • Check scanners
  • Signature pads
  • Other user-specific peripherals
  • Perform print testing and verify functionality after deployment.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Capture and submit required project documentation.
  • Maintain inventory tracking and deployment records.
  • Record old and new asset information.
  • Provide daily status updates, completion reports, and project documentation as required.
  • Take and submit before-and-after workstation photos.

Inventory & Asset Management

  • Assist with daily inventory verification.
  • Track deployment equipment and materials.
  • Package and prepare retired devices for recycling or return shipment.
  • Maintain accurate asset records throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

This role requires strong desktop support experience, attention to detail, and the ability to follow established deployment procedures. Candidates should be comfortable working directly with end users and ensuring a smooth transition to new hardware., * Experience with desktop deployments, refresh projects, or hardware rollouts.

  • Strong knowledge of Windows desktop hardware and peripherals.
  • Experience with workstation setup, hardware replacement, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft OneDrive and user profile migrations.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed project procedures and deployment standards.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills., * Previous experience supporting large-scale refresh or migration projects.
  • Experience with VDI environments.
  • Familiarity with printer installation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working in enterprise or multi-site environments.

Tools & Equipment

Technicians should be prepared to bring:

  • Laptop
  • USB drive with approved installers/tools
  • Basic hand tools (screwdriver, scissors, etc.)
  • Materials for cable management
  • Mobile device capable of capturing project photos and documentation.
