Job description

Hunter Strategy is seeking a Lead Enterprise Architect at the subject matter expert level to support a new, greenfield mission with a large federal civilian agency. You will join a team of architects and engineers to stand up an enterprise architecture, building the architectural runway and authoring the baseline architecture, governance, and standards artifacts that a large number of development teams in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment will build against.

What You Will Do

  • Build the architectural runway for a greenfield federal program in a SAFe environment
  • Author the baseline enterprise architecture, governance framework, and technical standards artifacts during the base period
  • Work alongside the Solution Architect and Senior Data Architect to determine the enterprise architecture for the program
  • Stand up the architecture governance that development team designs and release artifacts are reviewed against
  • Maintain the enterprise architecture, governance, and standards artifacts as living Work Products across the option periods
  • Review development team designs for architectural alignment and report findings with clear, actionable recommendations, This position is contingent upon contract award, with a tentative start date of September 1, 2026. The role is full-time during the program’s establishment period and steps to a half-time commitment on this program thereafter. Work is remote-first; occasional onsite support in Washington, DC may be coordinated with the Government. Hunter Strategy is an equal opportunity employer.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of enterprise or solution architecture experience [placeholder: set final bar]
  • Experience establishing enterprise architecture in a new or transforming organization
  • Experience authoring governance frameworks and technical standards for consumption by development teams
  • Experience working in a SAFe environment, including architectural runway planning
  • Experience operating across organizational boundaries, with development teams that report elsewhere
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination

Preferred

  • TOGAF or comparable enterprise architecture certification
  • Experience supporting federal civilian or defense programs, particularly multi-contractor environments
  • Familiarity with microservices and API-first architectures, including OpenAPI and gRPC
  • Experience reviewing designs produced by teams the architect does not manage

$170,000 - $200,000 a year - Full-time
