Job description

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise mainframe applications that support critical business operations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in IBM mainframe technologies, COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, and batch processing. This role involves collaborating with business analysts, QA teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable, and high-performing solutions., * Design, develop, test, and maintain IBM mainframe applications.

  • Develop and enhance programs using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Create and maintain batch processing jobs and scheduling workflows.
  • Write complex SQL queries and optimize DB2 database performance.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues.
  • Perform impact analysis, code reviews, and root cause analysis.
  • Support application modernization and migration initiatives.
  • Develop technical documentation, design specifications, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, infrastructure teams, and project managers.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum or Waterfall software development methodologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in IBM Mainframe application development.
  • Strong programming experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.
  • Experience with IBM z/OS operating system.
  • Knowledge of TSO/ISPF and SDSF.
  • Experience developing and supporting batch processing applications.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills., * Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, Healthcare, or Government industries.
  • Knowledge of IMS DB/DC.
  • Experience with MQ Series (IBM MQ).
  • Familiarity with ChangeMan, Endevor, CA7, Control-M, or other scheduling/version control tools.
  • Experience integrating mainframe systems with distributed applications or APIs.
  • Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for mainframe environments.
  • Experience with application modernization and cloud migration initiatives.
