Job description

Goldman Edwards is seeking an experienced AI Engineer (AI Foundry) to design, develop, evaluate, and deploy AI-powered applications and intelligent software solutions supporting mission-critical federal technology initiatives.

This role will work closely with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into AI-enabled solutions using Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, agent-based systems, and cloud-native technologies. The ideal candidate combines deep software engineering expertise with hands-on experience building, testing, and deploying modern AI solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Translate business requirements and problem statements into effective prompts for AI Foundry platforms and Generative AI ecosystems.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy AI-powered applications and intelligent automation solutions.
  • Evaluate AI-generated code and system designs for quality, scalability, maintainability, and security.
  • Identify design gaps and implement improvements to architecture and application code.
  • Develop, integrate, and optimize AI, Generative AI, and agent-based applications.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and business stakeholders throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Test, validate, and deploy AI-enabled applications into production environments.
  • Evaluate AI system accuracy, reliability, bias, and performance using modern testing methodologies.
  • Stay current on emerging AI technologies, frameworks, and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • 15+ years of software engineering, distributed systems, and cloud-native application development experience.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience developing and integrating Generative AI, LLMs, agentic AI, or AI automation solutions.
  • Strong prompt engineering experience translating business requirements into effective AI workflows.
  • Experience with one or more leading AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, or similar enterprise AI platforms.
  • Strong experience with Angular, React, Python, Node.js, Rust, or similar modern development frameworks.
  • Experience designing cloud-native applications using AWS, Google Cloud Platform (preferred), Microsoft Azure, or Oracle Cloud.
  • Experience evaluating AI models for accuracy, bias, reliability, and overall system performance.
  • Experience using AI testing and evaluation platforms such as Braintrust, Galileo, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, APIs, and modern engineering best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills., * Experience supporting federal government technology modernization initiatives.
  • Experience building AI-powered enterprise applications.
  • Experience developing agentic AI or autonomous workflow solutions.
  • Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, AI orchestration frameworks, and enterprise AI governance.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation).
  • An active U.S. Government security clearance is a plus.
  • Candidates selected for certain projects may be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
