Job description

Bold Reuse is pioneering the shift away from single-use waste by implementing reusable systems in large venues, campuses, and events. We work with top brands like Pepsi, Starbucks, and major sports teams to integrate reuse into their operations. Our mission is to make reuse the norm through seamless, tech-enabled solutions that deliver measurable environmental impact., As a Full-Stack Software Engineer at Bold Reuse, you will lead the continued design, development, and operation of our internal platform-the technology that supports and enables our day-to-day business operations. After taking a handoff from the current lead engineer, you will be the sole engineer for the organization. You will take meaningful ownership of the platform’s technical direction and outcomes, carrying work from solution design and architecture through implementation, deployment, and ongoing support.

Working closely with the Product Owner and key business stakeholders, you will translate operational needs into practical, maintainable software solutions. You will balance near-term delivery priorities with the long-term health of the platform, applying strong engineering practices to build systems that are secure, scalable, resilient, and well tested.

This role is well suited for an engineer who enjoys both building new capabilities and improving the systems around them. You will proactively identify technical debt, performance and scalability concerns, and opportunities to modernize our frameworks, tooling, and infrastructure. You will have substantial autonomy in how solutions are designed and delivered, along with direct visibility into how your work improves BOLD REUSE’s operations and supports the company’s growth., * The initial engagement period is 1-year, with a 3-5 month extension depending on business needs and mutual agreement., At Bold Reuse, how we work matters as much as what we do. Our values and associated competency expectations are shared across all teams and individuals at Bold Reuse - it is the secret sauce that enables us to be successful and have fun while we win. As such, the Procurement Manager is expected to demonstrate the following competencies aligned with our core values:

  • Boldness: Proactively identifies opportunities to improve how work is done; doesn’t wait for instruction - brings ideas and solutions. Champions new ideas and sees them through to execution. Takes smart risks independently, weighing impact on customers and the business.
  • Intentionality: Prioritizes work, balancing impact and urgency. Makes thoughtful decisions aligned with values and business goals. Models reliability and professionalism for others.
  • Leadership: Builds alignment by coordinating work across people or teams. Delegates effectively when appropriate and creates ownership. Addresses conflict directly and productively to maintain trust and momentum.
  • Ownership: Anticipates needs and moves work forward effectively. Makes decisions and enables self and others to maintain momentum. Holds self accountable for outcomes, not just effort.
  • Collaborative: Facilitates collaboration across functions or perspectives. Synthesizes input to drive better solutions. Raises the quality of work through feedback and shared ownership.
  • Adaptable: Evaluates changing conditions and adjusts approach proactively. Balances flexibility with rigor and follow-through. Helps others navigate change through clear thinking and communication.
  • Loving: Shows emotional intelligence in challenging situations. Supports teammates’ growth and well-being. Models resilience and a growth mindset.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional experience building and maintaining production web applications
  • Strong back-end development skills in Go (Golang), including building GraphQL and REST APIs
  • Solid command of relational databases - writing performant SQL, designing schemas, and managing migrations in PostgreSQL
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and React, with experience in Next.js or a comparable modern framework
  • Experience with modern front-end tooling, including component libraries (Tailwind CSS, Radix/shadcn or similar), form validation, and typed GraphQL clients such as Apollo
  • Comfortable writing and maintaining automated tests on both the back end (Go) and front end (Jest, React Testing Library)
  • Experience deploying and operating containerized applications on AWS (ECS, ECR, S3) using Docker and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience integrating with third-party APIs and keeping data in sync across external platforms (e.g., Airtable, Firebase Authentication, analytics tools)
  • Familiarity with background job/worker patterns for data synchronization, imports, and reporting pipelines
  • Experience using AI coding assistants and agentic development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) as a core part of the development workflow
  • Ability to effectively direct, review, and validate AI-generated code
  • Experience structuring codebases and documentation so AI tools work effectively against them
  • Comfortable using AI tools to accelerate debugging, test generation, code review, and documentation without sacrificing code quality

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with Firebase Authentication, including custom claims for role-based access
  • Exposure to no-code/low-code platforms (Softr, Airtable) and BI/reporting tools (Looker Studio, PostHog)
  • Experience working with Google Cloud (Cloud Run / Cloud Functions)
  • Experience contributing to multi-tenant SaaS applications and implementing architectural patterns that support multiple customers, business units, or franchise locations while maintaining appropriate data isolation, security, and configurability, * The hourly contract rate for this role is $90-$110, depending on relevant experience, technical depth, and demonstrated ability to independently own the design, delivery, and operation of production software.

Benefits & conditions

$90 - $110 an hour - Full-time, Contract
