Job description

A growing environmental consultancy is looking to appoint a GIS Consultant to support its expanding portfolio of projects across the UK. Working alongside a team of ecologists, environmental planners and technical specialists, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality spatial data solutions for a diverse range of development, infrastructure, renewable energy and conservation projects. Your new role As a GIS Consultant, you will provide GIS and spatial analysis support across a variety of environmental projects, helping project teams to visualise, manage and interpret spatial data throughout the project life cycle. Key responsibilities will include:Producing high-quality maps, figures and spatial outputs for technical reports and planning submissions.Managing and maintaining GIS datasets using ArcGIS Pro, QGIS or equivalent software.Undertaking spatial analysis to support ecological, environmental and planning projects.Working closely with technical specialists to develop mapping solutions tailored to project requirements.Assisting with data management, quality assurance and database administration.Supporting the development and implementation of GIS best practices across the business.Contributing to project delivery within agreed timescales and budgets.

Requirements

A degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science or a related discipline.Proven experience using GIS software, particularly ArcGIS Pro and/or QGIS.Strong spatial analysis, data management and cartographic skills.Experience creating professional mapping outputs for technical and client-facing deliverables.Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
