Job description

The Senior Systems Engineer will play a critical role in architecting, delivering, and maintaining enterprise-scale server, storage, virtualization, automation, and cloud solutions. The candidate will be responsible for driving ongoing modernization across a highly virtualized and hybrid cloud environment, with a strong focus on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Policy as Code practices. The role also involves providing Tier 3 support, technical leadership, and driving process improvement through automation and best practices. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, implementing, and administering enterprise server and storage solutions while ensuring security, compliance, and architectural best practices.
  • Developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code and Policy as Code leveraging tools such as Terraform, Vault, Packer, and Puppet.
  • Supporting enterprise-wide endpoint and systems management initiatives.
  • Participating in the evaluation and modernization of virtualization platforms.
  • Analyzing infrastructure utilization for capacity planning and supporting future growth initiatives, including migration of workloads to cloud platforms.
  • Collaborating with IT leadership, development teams, and third-party vendors in designing scalable infrastructure solutions.
  • Creating and updating technical documentation and operational procedures for infrastructure management.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert on enterprise infrastructure technologies and leading project efforts.
  • Owning and resolving escalated Tier 3 infrastructure incidents from diagnosis to resolution.
  • Proactively identifying and developing automation opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and minimize repetitive support requests.
  • Providing mentoring, knowledge sharing, and technical training to peers and other stakeholders.
  • Contributing to infrastructure architecture decisions and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

To thrive in this role, candidates should demonstrate an advanced technical background, a collaborative approach, and a strong drive for modernization and automation. Required and preferred skills and experience include:

  • 4 to 6 years of hands-on experience administering server, storage, and network infrastructure in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Solid proficiency with Infrastructure as Code and Policy as Code using modern platforms such as Terraform, Vault, Packer, or similar.
  • Experience with configuration management solutions (Puppet, Ansible, or Chef).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, and IIS administration.
  • Administration experience with VMware virtualization platforms and related tooling.
  • Familiarity with SAN, NAS, Fibre Channel storage technologies, and core networking concepts.
  • Comprehensive understanding of server hardware, backup/recovery processes, and infrastructure security fundamentals.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team within a collaborative environment.
  • Experience supporting large-scale endpoint management platforms (such as Tanium) is a plus.
  • Scripting and automation capability with PowerShell, Python, Bash, or Perl (preferred).
  • Practical experience designing or supporting hybrid cloud architectures using Microsoft Azure is highly valued.
  • Hands-on exposure to Nutanix platforms or other hyperconverged infrastructure is preferred.
  • Industry certifications such as HashiCorp, VMware, Microsoft Azure, ITIL, or PMP are considered advantageous.
  • Familiarity with technologies including Citrix, SQL Server, Microsoft System Center, VDI, MDM, UNIX/Linux systems, or legacy infrastructure is beneficial.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 4-6 years of progressively responsible experience in systems engineering or related IT infrastructure roles.

If you are a proactive problem-solver passionate about automation, infrastructure modernization, and technical leadership, we encourage you to apply and become part of a dynamic, technology-forward environment.
