Job description

Telit Cinterion is seeking a customer-facing Technical Solutions Architect to define and deliver end-to-end IoT solutions for customer-specific programs, spanning connected devices, wireless connectivity, embedded firmware, device management, data architecture, cloud integration, and production deployment. This role translates customer business needs and technical constraints into solution architectures, proposals, SOW inputs, NRE estimates, and implementation plans, serving as the technical bridge between customers, Program Management, R&D and partner teams.

The ideal candidate will bring broad IoT systems expertise with hands-on experience in connected devices, wireless technologies, sensors, embedded systems, device-to-cloud data flows, secure provisioning/authentication, OTA lifecycle management, scalable cloud services, and customer-facing communication. The role requires strong judgment in balancing cost, schedule, power, performance, reliability, manufacturability, certification risk, security, and long-term supportability.

Objectives & Responsibilities

  • Engage directly with customers to understand business needs, technical requirements, constraints, commercial drivers, deployment environments, and success criteria; translate these inputs into clear architectural specifications, interface definitions, solution blueprints, and implementation assumptions.
  • Define end-to-end IoT solution architectures spanning hardware design, sensors, embedded firmware, connectivity layers, device management workflows, data models, platform integration, cloud services, and production deployment.
  • Define connectivity strategies using cellular (LTE, Cat M, NB IoT, 5G), Wi-Fi, BLE, GNSS, short range wireless, wired interfaces, and other relevant communication protocols.
  • Act as the primary technical interface between customer engineering teams and Telit R&D, and Program Management.
  • Work with internal engineering teams to estimate NRE efforts, development schedules, test and validation requirements, certification impact, BOM implications, technical risks, and SOW assumptions.
  • Produce high quality architecture documents, technical proposals, SOW inputs, customer facing design packages, interface specifications, data-flow diagrams, and decision/risk summaries.
  • Develop reusable architectural patterns, best practices, reference designs, estimation models, and technical templates for future customer engagements.
  • Participate in design reviews, architecture reviews, risk assessments, implementation planning, validation readiness reviews, and issue-resolution activities throughout the project lifecycle
  • Drive technical tradeoff analysis involving cost, schedule, power consumption, connectivity, reliability, manufacturability, certification, security, scalability, and long-term supportability

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of secure device-to-cloud data-flow models, including MQTT, HTTPS/REST APIs, encryption, mutual authentication, certificate management, secure provisioning, API security, OTA/FOTA, and fleet management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in IoT, embedded, wireless, cloud-connected products, or technical solutions architecture, preferably including commercially deployed connected-device programs.
  • Demonstrated customer-facing technical experience in requirements discovery, architecture definition, presales support, proposal development, technical presentations, and SOW input.
  • Experience with SOW-based delivery, NRE cost modeling, development estimates, BOM tradeoffs, engineering schedule inputs, and technical assumption/risk documentation.
  • Experience with product development and commercialization workflows, including requirements, architecture, EVT/DVT/PVT, validation planning, regulatory/certification readiness, production ramp, and sustaining support.
  • Experience integrating cellular (LTE, LTE-M/Cat M, NB-IoT, 5G), Wi-Fi, BLE/Bluetooth, GNSS, sensors, and embedded interfaces into commercial products.Excellent communication, stakeholder management, technical documentation, and cross-functional leadership skills, including the ability to explain tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of OTA/FOTA firmware update mechanisms, boot/update flows, rollback strategies, device provisioning, remote configuration, and lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and certification requirements such as FCC, ISED, CE/RED, PTCRB, carrier approvals, and cybersecurity expectations
  • Experience working with distributed/offshore engineering teams, ODMs, and customer engineering organizations.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub, Google Cloud IoT, or Telit deviceWISE, including provisioning, authentication, data ingestion, and lifecycle management
