Job description

The Development Manager plays a high-visibility, high-impact role in driving resource mobilization and donor engagement strategies for a leading social justice and advocacy non-profit organization. Working directly with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and collaborating closely with the Executive Director (ED), this position blends strategic fundraising writing, high-touch donor stewardship, and end-to-end event execution to advance the organization’s mission and long-term financial sustainability.

This role is ideal for a compelling storyteller, strategic fundraiser, and detail-driven project manager who thrives on building relationships, crafting persuasive proposals, and elevating development operations to scale impact. This is an immediate opportunity, fully remote, interim position to support upcoming fundraising events and the annual meeting. EveryAction or fundraising CRM experience required. Responsibilities

  • Grant & Fundraising Writing: Draft and edit compelling grant proposals, funder reports, sponsorship decks, and appeal letters to secure institutional and individual funding.
  • Executive Briefings & Stewardship: Prepare briefing materials and talking points for the CDO and ED, while managing high-touch communications to steward key donors.
  • Event Planning & Execution: Lead end-to-end logistics, donor communications, and on-site management (including occasional travel) for donor briefings and major fundraising events.
  • Prospect Research & Pipeline Management: Identify new foundation and major donor prospects while tracking grant deadlines and deliverables to ensure full compliance.
  • Development Operations: Oversee donor database (CRM) accuracy, streamline workflows, and partner with Finance on monthly gift reconciliations and forecasting.
