Job description

The Azure Data & Reporting Architect provides strategic management of Compass Rose’s reporting data models-curated data marts, semantic layers, governed metric definitions, and standardized reporting structures that enable consistent, high-trust analytics for executive, clinical, operational, and financial decision-making. This role manages the reporting foundation that sits on top of the Azure data environment and ensures reporting outputs are traceable, reproducible, and scalable across key healthcare domains.

Data Domains You Will Support

  • Medical claims data (professional/institutional, inpatient/outpatient, diagnosis, procedure, revenue codes)
  • Pharmacy claims data (NCPDP records, formulary status, rebates, pricing, utilization)
  • Eligibility and enrollment data (834 feeds, coverage periods, retroactive terminations)
  • Provider and network data (provider IDs, network participation, reimbursement attributes)
  • Quality measures (e.g., HEDIS value sets, measure calculations)
  • Financial reconciliation files (invoices, payment registers, admin fee summaries)

What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Define and maintain the enterprise reporting model strategy (reporting schemas, curated marts, standardized structures) to support dashboards, scorecards, and operational reporting.
  • Establish and govern semantic model patterns (curated datasets, metric logic, dimensions/measures) to keep reporting consistent across teams and use cases.
  • Develop and maintain metric definitions and KPI governance (source mapping, calculation rules, refresh expectations, and ā€œdefinition of doneā€).
  • Lead the design of data marts enabling executive dashboards and exception-based reporting workflows (including board-level visibility into operational trends).
  • Build validation expectations (reconciliation checks, consistency rules, lineage documentation) to strengthen trust and reproducibility; maintain audit-ready traceability from source to reporting outputs.
  • Provide architectural oversight so ingestion and transformation pipelines align with reporting model strategy; partner with platform/operations resources responsible for ADF, Storage, and Azure SQL.
  • Guide how curated datasets and semantic layers are exposed to BI tools so Power BI dashboards rely on governed, performant model structures rather than duplicated report logic.
  • Use AI-assisted techniques to accelerate drafting of SQL/model logic, documentation, and test routines where appropriate, with disciplined human review for accuracy and compliance.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Schema design?, Required

  • Demonstrated experience designing reporting data models and curated datasets that support enterprise dashboards and repeatable KPI reporting for healthcare domains (medical claims, pharmacy claims, eligibility/enrollment, provider, quality/HEDIS, finance reconciliation).
  • Strong SQL and data modeling skills; ability to translate business requirements into durable model structures and governed metric definitions.
  • Azure data platform familiarity sufficient to align model strategy with platform design (ADF pipelines, storage patterns, and SQL-based warehouse structures).
  • Ability to communicate model logic to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Must be able to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • Must reside in the United States or its territories.

Preferred

  • Power BI modeling/semantic model discipline and performance-oriented modeling with governed measures.
  • Experience integrating advanced analytics outputs into reporting (predictions/risk scores/anomaly signals) in partnership with analytics stakeholders.
  • Comfort using AI-assisted development tools with strong validation discipline and HIPAA-minded handling of sensitive data., * Power BI: 5 years (Preferred)
  • Health information management: 5 years (Required)
  • SQL: 5 years (Preferred)
