Network Technician

Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is a two -year community/technical college that offers more than 75 associate degree, diploma, and certificate programs for students who are either seeking quick entry into the workforce or desiring to transfer to a senior institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree. HGTC offers three convenient campus locations in South Carolina, including Myrtle Beach, Conway and Georgetown. Horry-Georgetown Technical College is seeking candidates for a Network Technician position in our Technology Solutions division. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing support to the network and telecommunication infrastructure and services. The Network Technician will provide support and maintenance of complex network systems and serves as a technical resource for information and telecommunication network systems support areas. While this position offers the opportunity for hybrid work, the employee is required to maintain a 37.5-hour workweek in accordance with State Technical College System requirements and must work on-site as needed to support business operations and institutional needs. $57,700 (Minimum)- $80,800 (Midpoint)

A bachelor’s degree in information technology systems, computer science, or related field and experience in information technology systems or related area. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis., Moderately complex to complex knowledge of information and telecommunication network services and data communications; methods of information and telecommunication network design; and information processing and fiber optics. Working knowledge of network hardware, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points, and of structured cabling standards. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network and infrastructure issues; present technical and non-technical reports in a clear and concise manner; and establish effective working relationships with vendors, management staff, and users.
