Job description
The position is part of the BIOVERA project (Valoración integrada de los servicios ecosistémicos de la infraestructura verde para la resiliencia hÃdrica y la conservación de la biodiversidad en el arco mediterráneo). BIOVERA has the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), through the co-financing of the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER).
The project aims to improve the understanding and assessment of ecosystem services provided by green infrastructure, promoting water resilience and biodiversity conservation through integrated methodologies that combine ecological, social and economic information.
The successful candidate will provide technical support to the activities carried out by ICRA within the project, particularly those related to citizen science, biodiversity data collection and processing, environmental monitoring, and ecosystem service assessment.
The person hired will also contribute to participatory processes, the preparation of supporting materials, and the development of technical and scientific documentation associated with the project’s case studies.
KEY DUTIES
-Support the development of citizen participation protocols and educational materials.
-Collect, clean and validate data from citizen science platforms and other biodiversity data sources.
-Process species observations, images and biodiversity records.
-Support the calculation of biodiversity and ecosystem service indicators.
-Participate in environmental monitoring and ecological assessment activities.
-Prepare and maintain project databases.
-Contribute to data analysis and results systematization.
-Assist in the preparation of technical reports, training materials and scientific documentation.
-Collaborate in knowledge transfer, environmental education and Communities of Practice activities., In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.

Education Level Undergraduate, Undergraduate, Ecology, Biodiversity, Ecosystem services, Environmental economics, Citizen science, Nature-based solutions.
Qualifications and Education Level:
Minimum qualification: Intermediate Vocational Training Diploma (or equivalent).
A Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Ecology, Geography, Sustainability, Heritage Studies, or related disciplines will be considered an asset.
Skills:
Ability to develop technical protocols and methodological guidelines.
Experience in processing and validating biodiversity data.
Good analytical, synthesis and technical writing skills.
Capacity to organize participatory activities.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Required Languages:
Fluent spoken and written Catalan and Spanish. Knowledge of technical English will be considered an asset
Required Experience:
Experience in biodiversity, citizen science, environmental education, ecological monitoring, environmental data management, or ecosystem service assessment projects
Desirable
Experience in the design of participatory activities, preparation of training materials, identification of species, ecological indicators and communication with non-specialized public.
Economic and non-economic evaluation of ecosystem services.
Interest and motivation to develop a research career.
