Job description
We are seeking a Hybrid IT Support & Field Service Technician to provide remote help desk assistance and on-site technical support to our managed services clients. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting technology, working with tools, installing equipment, and communicating directly with customers.
The successful candidate will be equally comfortable resolving support tickets remotely and performing hands-on fieldwork at client locations. Strong communication, professionalism, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail are essential.
On-Site and Field Support
- Travel to client locations to install, configure, troubleshoot, and replace IT equipment.
- Set up workstations, monitors, printers, scanners, phones, and other peripherals.
- Install and organize network equipment, including switches, wireless access points, firewalls, and battery backups.
- Mount equipment and perform minor drilling, fastening, cable management, and related installation work.
- Assist with workstation deployments, office moves, equipment upgrades, and technology projects.
- Transport equipment and maintain an organized inventory of tools, cables, and replacement parts.
- Maintain a clean and professional work area at client locations.
Requirements
- Previous experience in an IT help desk, desktop support, field service, or similar technical role.
- Working knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, basic networking, printers, and computer hardware.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, cable testers, and basic installation equipment.
- Ability to assemble, mount, connect, and organize technology equipment safely.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional, patient, and courteous when working with clients.
- Ability to manage multiple support requests and adjust to changing priorities.
- Strong documentation, organization, and time-management skills.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel to client locations.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with the support team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working for a managed service provider.
- Experience supporting healthcare, dental, professional-services, or other regulated businesses.
- Familiarity with Windows domain environments, Microsoft 365 administration, and remote monitoring tools.
- Experience with Datto RMM
- Experience with imaging tools such as Clonezilla
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, Wi-Fi, VPNs, switches, and firewalls.
- Basic understanding of cable management
Physical and Scheduling Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry computers, battery backups, monitors, and other equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to work under desks, reach behind equipment, climb a small ladder, and perform hands-on installations.
