Job description

We are seeking a Mechanical Data Center Technician to support operations and maintenance within a fully operational data center environment. This is a fulltime employee position based in San Antonio, Texas, requiring onsite work in a secure facility. The role focuses on maintaining HVAC and mechanical systems that are essential to continuous operations. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems within a fully operational data center
  • Operate and maintain HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, CRAC/CRAH units, and air handling systems
  • Support minor plumbing systems including pumps, valves, and piping
  • Troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Monitor and manage systems using building management platforms such as Niagara Tridium, Siemens, or Johnson Controls
  • Use CMMS tools to track work orders, maintenance activities, and system performance
  • Read and interpret mechanical, plumbing, and electrical diagrams and technical documentation
  • Respond to system alerts and support rapid issue resolution to maintain uptime

Requirements

  • 6+ years of overall work experience, including at least 3 years in a fully operational data center
  • Strong HVAC background, including experience with large-scale chillers (300+ tons), boilers, and related systems
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting complex mechanical systems
  • Proficiency reading and interpreting technical diagrams and schematics
  • Experience working with CMMS platforms
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to pass the NITC Journey-Level HVAC exam within one year of hire
  • EPA 608 certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
