Job description

We are looking for an experienced Middleware Engineer with expertise in JBoss, Apache Tomcat, Apache TomEE, and Oracle WebLogic to manage, configure, and optimize enterprise application servers running in an AWS cloud environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong middleware fundamentals combined with hands-on AWS experience to support scalable, resilient, and secure application hosting.

  • Microsoft Copilot (or similar AI-assisted development tools)
  • Shell scripting (Bash) and AWS CLI
  • Linux administration (RedHat, Amazon Linux)
  • Monitoring and logging (Amazon CloudWatch, CloudTrail)
  • Containers (Docker, Amazon ECS/EKS) - a plus, * Install, configure, and maintain JBoss, Tomcat, TomEE, and WebLogic servers on AWS-hosted infrastructure (EC2, containers, or hybrid on-prem/cloud)
  • Deploy, troubleshoot, and support enterprise Java and Jakarta EE applications across middleware platforms
  • Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and monitoring of application servers using CloudWatch and native middleware tools
  • Automate build, deployment, and release pipelines using GitHub and AWS-native or third-party CI/CD tools
  • Utilize Copilot and other AI-assisted tools to improve scripting, automation, and troubleshooting efficiency
  • Manage server security, patching, and hardening in line with AWS and organizational security standards
  • Collaborate with application, DevOps, and cloud infrastructure teams on migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives
  • Support incident management and root cause analysis for middleware-related issues

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in middleware technologies (JBoss, Tomcat, TomEE, WebLogic)
  • Strong knowledge of Java-based and Jakarta EE application servers and enterprise application deployment
  • Hands-on experience running middleware workloads on AWS (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3)
  • Experience with GitHub repositories, branching strategies, and version control
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline design and automation
  • Familiarity with AI-powered development tools like Copilot
  • Working knowledge of Linux system administration
  • AWS certification (e.g., Solutions Architect Associate or SysOps Administrator) is a plus
