Job description
Retrevr is hiring a Software Developer to join our small engineering team in Provo.
Demand for new features has outgrown what our current team can ship, so we’re moving quickly on this hire. You’d be the third developer on the team, which means your work is visible immediately and you’ll have real influence over how things get built.
The work splits between two areas: internal systems that our sales team depends on every day, and new customer-facing product features. You’ll touch both.
This role is open to developers with roughly 1-5 years of professional experience. We care more about how you think and how fast you pick things up than about a specific number of years.
What you’ll do
- Build and ship features in React and Next.js, from the UI through to API routes
- Develop and improve the internal tools our sales team runs on - dashboards, workflows, reporting, integrations
- Write backend logic in Node.js/TypeScript and work with our database and third-party APIs
- Deploy and monitor your own work on Vercel: preview branches, production releases, and fixing what breaks
- Review teammates’ pull requests and get your own reviewed
- Sit down with the sales team and figure out what they actually need, then build it
- Improve performance, accessibility, and code quality as you go
Requirements
- 1+ years of professional experience building web applications (internships and substantial side projects count)
- Solid JavaScript and TypeScript fundamentals
- Hands-on React experience - hooks, component structure, state management
- Comfort with Git and a pull request workflow
- Some backend exposure: REST APIs, working with a database, handling auth
- Clear communication, and a habit of asking questions early rather than getting stuck quietly
- Comfortable with shifting priorities - on a three-person team, this week’s plan sometimes changes
- Able to work on-site in Provo, UT
Nice to have
- Next.js specifically - App Router, server components, server actions
- Vercel deployments, edge functions, or preview/environment workflows
- PostgreSQL and an ORM like Prisma or Drizzle
- Tailwind CSS
- Experience building internal tools or CRM/sales integrations
- Testing with Jest, Vitest, or Playwright
- Startup or small-team experience
Benefits & conditions
Pulled from the full job description
- Unlimited paid time off, * $50,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience
- Unlimited PTO
- A real say in technical decisions and the tools we use
- Short feedback loops: what you build goes live in days, not quarters
- Direct access to the people making product and business decisions
Hiring process
We’re moving quickly on this one:
- Short intro call (~20 minutes)
- Technical conversation with the team, including a walkthrough of something you’ve built
- Offer
