Job description
Our client, a leading healthcare organization, is seeking an experienced Principal Consultant, System Contracting to join its Managed Care Contracting team. This is a high-impact opportunity for a healthcare contracting professional who thrives on complex payer negotiations, value-based care strategies, and cross-functional leadership.
In this role, you will serve as a trusted subject matter expert, leading strategic payer contracting initiatives, developing financial models and analytics, and partnering with executive leadership to strengthen payer relationships and improve organizational performance.
What You’ll Do
- Lead complex payer negotiations, including fee-for-service and value-based reimbursement agreements.
- Manage strategic, cross-functional projects that support organizational priorities.
- Analyze contract performance and financial outcomes to develop negotiation strategies.
- Serve as the organization’s expert on payer contract terms, reimbursement methodologies, and value-based contracting models.
- Partner with Finance, Revenue Cycle, Analytics, Reimbursement, Primary Care, and other operational leaders to drive strategic initiatives.
- Develop executive-level presentations and recommendations based on financial and operational analysis.
- Manage multiple high-priority projects while meeting critical deadlines.
- Provide consultation and education to internal stakeholders regarding payer contracting strategies and reimbursement models.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- 10+ years of healthcare industry experience
- 7+ years of payer contracting experience
- At least 3 years of experience negotiating and managing value-based reimbursement contracts
- Strong project management experience leading complex initiatives
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
- Strong analytical and financial modeling abilities
- Understanding of healthcare reimbursement, insurance operations, legal, and business principles
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
