Senior Full Stack Software Engineer (Music Distribution Platform)

This project involves developing the entire platform described below in the simplest and most efficient way possible by leveraging established frameworks, Open Source components with commercially compatible licenses (preferably MIT, Apache 2.0, or BSD), official APIs, and Artificial Intelligence tools to accelerate development. The primary focus is on software architecture, system integrations, and modular development., We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join us under a Work for Hire (Independent Contractor/Freelancer) engagement. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software architecture, enterprise application development, APIs, relational databases, cloud computing, and SaaS platforms to lead the development of a proprietary music distribution, catalog management, and music intelligence platform., * Design and define the platform’s technical architecture.

• Develop the platform’s front-end, back-end, databases, APIs, and cloud infrastructure, integrating it with Merlin’s infrastructure, which will provide connectivity to major DSPs and digital services such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, Meta, TikTok, and others.

• Develop modules for managing artists, musical works (compositions), sound recordings, singles, albums, EPs, and compilations.

• Implement secure upload and storage for master recordings, audio tracks, artwork, lyrics, documents, contracts, and other digital assets.

• Build a comprehensive music metadata engine, including credits and industry identifiers such as ISRC, ISWC, UPC, EAN, IPI, and CAE.

• Develop workflows for content review, approval, distribution, updates, and takedowns.

• Integrate the platform with Merlin’s infrastructure using official APIs, DDEX, SFTP, data feeds, or other approved industry standards.

• Build connectors for Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, TikTok, Meta, and other DSPs through the infrastructure provided by our distribution partners (e.g., Merlin).

• Implement the import, normalization, reconciliation, and processing of consumption reports, revenue statements, and royalty reports.

• Develop financial and operational dashboards with KPIs by track, album, artist, DSP, country, language, and reporting period.

• Design and implement a royalty accounting engine capable of calculating royalties, commissions, revenue splits, withholding amounts, multiple currencies, and detailed calculation histories.

• Develop a standalone international music publishing administration module, separate from the sound recording distribution workflow, including a Content ID monitoring system across all supported DSPs.

• Prepare integrations with publishing administrators such as Songtrust, Sentric, Kobalt, Downtown Music Publishing, Peermusic, or other similar companies.

• Develop a lyrics management module and integrate it with Musixmatch through its official API or other authorized technical integration methods whenever available.

• Build a comprehensive Content ID management framework covering monitoring, assets, claims, ownership, policies, allowlists, dispute management, and related workflows while ensuring Giramille maintains full administrative control across all DSPs.

• Implement logging, auditing, two-factor authentication (2FA), role-based permissions, security controls, backup strategies, and disaster recovery mechanisms.

• Design the platform to support multiple companies, record labels, artists, languages, territories, and currencies.

• Develop the solution following an API-First architecture, enabling future integrations, customer portals, mobile applications, and white-label deployments.

• Build a fully web-based cloud platform accessible through a custom domain, supporting secure login, two-factor authentication (2FA), user roles, permission management, and fully online operation.

• Utilize a modern, scalable, and secure architecture capable of supporting multiple concurrent users, high availability, backups, auditing, and long-term platform growth., The use of third-party platforms, APIs, or services will not be permitted, except for those officially provided by Merlin, participating DSPs, and the partner companies referenced in this job posting. Whenever possible, the solution must rely on official APIs, open industry standards, and commercially compatible Open Source components., * Git, source control, versioning, and technical documentation.

Development will be carried out within repositories managed by Giramille, with continuous documentation, frequent commits, dedicated staging and production environments, and complete knowledge transfer upon project completion.

We are looking for professionals with proven expertise in:

• Full Stack software development.

• Experience with Merlin, FUGA, The Orchard, ONErpm, Revelator, Symphonic, TuneCore, CD Baby, or similar music distribution platforms.

• Knowledge of DDEX standards, including ERN, DSR, CWR, and RIN.

• Experience with royalty accounting, music publishing administration, or copyright management.

• Familiarity with ISRC, ISWC, UPC, IPI, and CAE identifiers.

• Experience with Musixmatch and Content ID systems.

• Experience with MusicBrainz, AcoustID, Chromaprint, or audio fingerprinting technologies.

• Experience developing multi-company, multi-tenant, multi-user, or white-label platforms.

• Experience with fintech solutions, payment systems, financial reconciliation, or accounting platforms.
