Job description

EMN Defense is seeking a Cloud Systems Engineer to support the PAE Mission Systems Command and Control at Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR). This position is responsible for designing, deploying, securing, and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure supporting mission-critical METOC NITES-Next systems for the U.S. Navy and Department of Defense. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with AWS cloud environments, DevSecOps practices, containerization technologies, cybersecurity, and infrastructure automation., * Design, deploy, secure, and maintain cloud infrastructure utilizing Amazon Web Services (AWS).

  • Implement DevSecOps best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize automated CI/CD deployment pipelines.
  • Deploy and support cloud environments utilizing RAISE, OSA, COSMOS, Orion, and related cloud technologies.
  • Implement cloud security controls, identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and secure network architectures.
  • Perform vulnerability management activities including system hardening, patching, remediation, and continuous monitoring.
  • Deploy and administer containerized workloads using Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).
  • Monitor cloud environments to ensure system performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Collaborate with software developers, cybersecurity engineers, and systems engineers to integrate security into automated deployment pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, cloud platform, and application issues.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in system design reviews, technical planning sessions, and continuous process improvement efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Defense cybersecurity policies, customer requirements, and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience supporting cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, or DevSecOps environments.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing DevSecOps methodologies and CI/CD pipeline automation.
  • Strong working knowledge of AWS cloud architecture, deployment, administration, and security.
  • Experience deploying and managing Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, and AWS EKS environments.
  • Experience implementing cloud infrastructure security, vulnerability management, and system hardening.
  • Understanding of cloud networking, Identity and Access Management (IAM), and cloud security best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within integrated technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing automation using Python.
  • Experience integrating systems using REST APIs.
  • Hands-on Linux/Unix administration, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
  • Experience supporting the NAVINTEL Cloud Ecosystem (NCE).
  • Experience supporting U.S. Navy or Department of Defense cloud modernization efforts.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or similar technologies).
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies., * AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
  • CompTIA Security+
  • CISSP (preferred for senior candidates)

Active U.S. Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance is required at the time of hire.· Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship.
