Job description

  • Purpose: Own the performance, reliability, security, and recoverability of a high-traffic PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server cloud environment., * Own production performance across PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Diagnose and resolve execution plan, indexing, locking, blocking, and query performance issues.
  • Design and operate high availability, replication, failover, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Lead zero-downtime schema changes and production database migrations.
  • Execute large-scale data migrations and backfills using safe, verifiable processes.
  • Maintain secure database access, encryption, auditing, and governance practices.
  • Build monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning processes.
  • Support reporting, analytics, and warehouse performance.
  • Continuously improve database reliability, safety, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • 8+ years administering production databases.
  • Expert PostgreSQL administration.
  • Expert Microsoft SQL Server administration.
  • Advanced SQL, T-SQL, and PL/pgSQL.
  • Deep experience with execution plan analysis and performance tuning.
  • Proven experience leading zero-downtime production migrations.
  • Strong HA/DR, replication, backup, and recovery expertise.
  • Experience with AWS RDS, Aurora, or equivalent cloud database platforms.
  • Strong security, encryption, auditing, and least-privilege practices.
  • Excellent written communication., * ERP or data warehouse experience.
  • High-volume transactional platforms.
  • BI and warehouse modeling.
  • Infrastructure-as-code.
  • Redis or distributed caching.
  • Event-driven architectures.
  • AI-assisted engineering experience.
