  • Write test specifications against product requirements and relevant standards.
  • Perform manual and automated testing throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Work closely with development teams to identify, document and resolve defects.
  • Work alongside Quality and Compliance teams to support certification and regulatory activities.
  • Produce technical documentation required for audits, certification and customer assessments.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or HND (or equivalent) with relevant commercial experience.
  • Experience testing and validating embedded systems.
  • Experience writing structured test specifications and executing product validation throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Experience with automated test frameworks and test automation (ideally Python).
  • Experience testing embedded hardware via interfaces e.g. USB, UART / RS232, IP networking
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems and software development processes.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles for embedded and connected products.
  • Experience investigating technical issues and performing root cause analysis.
  • Understanding of software release processes, version control and traceability.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity standards e.g. Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), EN18031, IEC62443
  • Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines or automated build/test systems.
  • Git and modern software release practices.
  • Testing embedded web applications or connected devices.
  • Experience with BLE, Zigbee or Thread.
  • Embedded hardware testing and troubleshooting.
