Job description

We’re looking for an experienced Head of IT Project Management to build and lead our IT Project Management function during one of the most exciting periods of transformation in Safetykleen’s history.

This is a rare opportunity to create a best-in-class project management capability from the ground up. You’ll establish the governance, standards, reporting, resource planning and delivery framework that underpins every major IT initiative across the business.

Working closely with the CIO and senior leadership team, you’ll become the face of IT project delivery, ensuring the business has complete visibility of priorities, progress, capacity and investment across a complex international technology portfolio.

This isn’t a role for someone who simply manages projects. We’re looking for someone who has successfully built or transformed an IT Project Management function before, thrives on bringing structure to complexity and can confidently influence, challenge and engage stakeholders at every level of the organisation.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Building and leading Safetykleen’s IT Project Management function and PMO capability
  • Owning the master IT portfolio roadmap across all programmes, projects and strategic initiatives
  • Developing resource, capacity and skills planning across multiple IT disciplines
  • Implementing governance, project standards, templates and delivery methodologies
  • Producing executive-level reporting, dashboards and portfolio updates for the CIO and Executive Leadership Team
  • Managing programme risks, dependencies, RAID logs and escalation processes
  • Driving prioritisation of IT initiatives against business value and available capacity
  • Monitoring portfolio budgets, forecasting spend and tracking benefits realisation
  • Selecting and implementing project portfolio management and capacity planning tools
  • Partnering with business leaders, vendors and delivery teams to ensure successful programme execution
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing project management capability across the wider IT function
  • Building a high-performing IT Project Management team as the function continues to grow

Requirements

You’re an experienced IT Project Management leader who has built or transformed a PMO or project management function within a complex technology environment.

You’ll be confident leading large transformation portfolios, balancing resources and priorities, influencing senior stakeholders and turning complex delivery information into clear, meaningful reporting for executives.

A natural leader and mentor, you’ll bring structure, accountability and commercial thinking, with the confidence to challenge where needed and build strong relationships across both IT and the wider business.

You will have:

  • Experience building or leading an IT PMO or Project Management function
  • A strong track record delivering complex IT transformation programmes
  • Expertise in portfolio governance, resource and capacity planning
  • Experience producing executive-level reporting and portfolio dashboards
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including Board or Executive-level exposure
  • Experience with enterprise project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira or Azure DevOps
  • A collaborative, organised and proactive leadership style

Desirable

  • International or multi-country IT transformation experience
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 or ERP programme experience
  • Agile, Waterfall and hybrid delivery methodologies
  • Power BI and advanced reporting experience
  • PRINCE2, PMP, MSP or equivalent qualifications

  • Life assurance (3x salary) for peace of mind
  • Private healthcare from day one
  • Clear career path and progression opportunities in a global, established business
  • Opportunity to build and shape a brand-new IT Project Management function
