Job description

We are looking for a Unix Administrator to provide day-to-day administration and support for Unix/Linux servers at a client location in the United States. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining server availability, troubleshooting system issues, performing routine maintenance, and supporting production environments while working onsite at the client’s office. Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Unix/Linux servers in production and non-production environments.
  • Monitor system performance, server health, and availability.
  • Perform user administration, file system management, and access control.
  • Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Troubleshoot system, application, and performance issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance, backup verification, and capacity monitoring.
  • Support incident, problem, and change management activities.
  • Maintain system documentation and operational procedures.
  • Coordinate with client teams and internal support teams to resolve issues.

Requirements

  • 8 - 10 years of experience in Unix/Linux administration.
  • Good knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems (RHEL, Oracle Linux, Solaris, or AIX).
  • Experience with shell scripting (Bash/Korn Shell).
  • Understanding of file systems, user management, permissions, and networking basics.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and ticketing tools.
  • Basic knowledge of virtualization and cloud environments is an advantage.
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.

Work Location

  • Onsite at the US client location (No remote work).
  • Willingness to work from the client’s office and support business hours as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
