Job description

We are seeking an experienced Unix Administrator to provide day-to-day administration and support for Unix/Linux servers in a production environment at a client location in the United States. The role involves ensuring system availability, troubleshooting issues, performing routine maintenance, and collaborating with internal and client teams to maintain reliable IT operations. This is a fully onsite position supporting critical business systems

Administer and support Unix/Linux servers across production and non-production environments.

Monitor server performance, system health, and availability.

Manage user accounts, file systems, permissions, and access controls.

Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Unix/Linux operating systems.

Troubleshoot system, application, and performance issues.

Perform routine maintenance, backup verification, and capacity monitoring.

Support incident, problem, and change management processes.

Maintain system documentation and operational procedures.

Collaborate with client and internal support teams to resolve technical issues.

Participate in on-call support as required.

Requirements

8-10 years of Unix/Linux administration experience.

Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems (RHEL, Oracle Linux, Solaris, or AIX).

Experience with Bash or Korn shell scripting.

Solid understanding of file systems, user management, permissions, and networking fundamentals.

Familiarity with monitoring and ticketing tools.

Basic knowledge of virtualization and cloud environments is a plus.

Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.

Unix/Linux certifications (RHCSA, RHCE, Oracle Linux, etc.) are a plus.
