Senior Software Engineer - CloudKit Client

Apple is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to help build the next generation of cloud services infrastructure. You’ll design and implement key components of the iCloud platform, integrating powerful new capabilities deep into the core of Apple’s operating systems., Our team builds the on-device software that makes iCloud work. In this role, you’ll focus on building CloudKit - Our privacy-focused sync and storage system. CloudKit manages user data for most Apple apps, as well as many third-party apps.

You’ll design and build the frameworks and daemons that support both systems, working closely with engineering teams across the company who are adopting this technology-and with colleagues who build our client and server dependencies.

A strong candidate will have experience and interest in Apple platforms, ready to tackle challenges like protocol design, interprocess communication, device resource management, API design, reliability, and performance. Since so much of the user experience depends on services, we’re also looking for engineers who are passionate about complex distributed systems.

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong programming skills in Objective-C and/or Swift
• Experience building on Apple Platforms (macOS, iOS, watchOS, tvOS, etc.)
• Experience in building system-level frameworks and APIs
• Excellent communication
• Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering-related field or equivalent related experience, * Experience in Swift concurrency
• Experience with security, privacy, and cryptography concepts
• Experience with event-based programming or inter-process communication is a plus
• Proven track record of working on rapid development cycles and shipping software on tight schedules
