Job description

DecisionPoint seeks a Data Integration / ETL Engineer to support secure enterprise data flows across a federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. This role is responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing ETL pipelines, data ingestion processes, transformation routines, metadata handling, and data quality assurance in support of analytics, reporting, and mission-critical applications.

The Data Integration / ETL Engineer ensures secure, efficient, and reliable data movement across cloud and on-premise systems while supporting the analytics team with well-structured, clean, and validated datasets. This role plays a key part in enabling data-driven decision-making across the enterprise.

This position is fully remote., The Data Integration / ETL Engineer will: Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines to support secure and efficient data ingestion, transformation, and delivery.

  • Develop and optimize data workflows supporting analytics, dashboards, reporting, and enterprise applications.

  • Implement data cleansing, validation, deduplication, error handling, and enrichment logic.

  • Manage data migrations, schema mapping, and data integration across cloud and on-prem systems.

  • Apply secure data handling, encryption, and IL5-compliant data flow controls.

  • Perform root cause analysis for data pipeline failures, bottlenecks, and data quality issues.

  • Collaborate with the analytics team to structure data models and optimize datasets for analysis.

  • Maintain metadata, data dictionaries, and documentation supporting data governance activities.

  • Support DevSecOps workflows with automated data processes and version-controlled transformations.

  • Monitor pipeline performance, storage utilization, and processing efficiency.

  • Coordinate with cybersecurity teams to ensure audit trails, logging, and compliance with RMF data-related controls.

  • Support the development and maintenance of dashboards and analytics environments with curated datasets.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.

Experience (Required)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in ETL engineering, data integration, or data engineering.

  • Experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines and data ingestion workflows.

  • Experience performing data cleansing, validation, transformation, and quality assurance.

  • Experience working in secure federal or DoD environments, or similar high-security data settings.

  • Experience troubleshooting ETL failures, performance issues, and schema mismatches.

Technical Knowledge (Required)

  • Proficiency with ETL platforms, scripting languages, and data pipeline frameworks (Python, SQL, ETL tools, etc.).

  • Strong SQL skills including complex queries, joins, aggregates, and transformations.

  • Knowledge of cloud-based data pipelines and storage solutions (AWS preferred).

  • Understanding of data governance, metadata management, and secure data handling practices.

  • Familiarity with RMF, IL5 data security requirements, and audit log standards.

Technical Knowledge (Preferred)

  • Experience with data warehouse platforms, big data systems, or streaming ingestion.

  • Experience with DevSecOps pipelines, Git-based version control, and CI/CD integrations.

  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools and analytics environments.

Certifications

Required:

  • CompTIA Security+

Preferred:

  • AWS Data Analytics or AWS Database certifications

  • CISSP or CCSP

Skills

  • Strong analytical and data problem solving abilities.

  • Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.

  • Ability to design efficient, scalable data workflows.

  • Clear communication skills for collaborating with analytics, development, and cybersecurity teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple pipelines and priorities in a fast-paced mission environment.
