Job description

Torch Technologies is seeking highly motivated IV&V Software Engineers to support advanced defense and engineering programs. This role involves developing and applying analytical tools, performing system-level evaluations, and contributing to mission-critical solutions in a fast-paced, technical environment. The ideal candidates have a strong foundation in Systems requirements analysis and Software engineering, experience with the systems and software development and testing, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to solve complex engineering challenges.

As an IV&V Software Engineer, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and reviewing plans and reports to ensure system and software operations comply with requirements and design specifications.
  • Develop and maintain tools using Python, MATLAB, Java, Excel, and other tools to support data analysis and system evaluation.
  • Perform system-level analysis to identify performance issues and optimization opportunities.
  • Performing detailed performance analyses, generating actionable insights, and recommending architectural or algorithmic improvements.
  • Performing static analysis of software and systems using conventional tools and inspection/analysis.
  • Decompose technical requirements and map test cases to those requirements.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, bottlenecks, and system inefficiencies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Contribute technical documentation, reports, and customer deliverables.
  • Assist in planning and executing engineering tasks to meet program deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 0-8 years of system design experience, including hardware/software integration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience and/or understanding of system analysis, data processing, or weapons/radar/sensor systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience and/or understanding of system testing, validation, and/or verification efforts.
  • Ability to participate in customer meetings, document findings, and remediate issues.
  • Must have an active secret clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • Ability to work with two or more of Ada, C, C++, Python, and Java;
  • Knowledge of DOORS, Requirements Analysis processes, and/or Systems Engineering.
  • Experience with the Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with system analysis, data processing, or radar/sensor systems.
  • Experience in missile defense or aerospace systems.
  • Experience working with distributed systems or server-based architecture.
