Job description
We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Hardware & Network Integration Technician to help test, configure, and deploy the hardware and connected devices used with our SaaS platform.
This is an entry-level opportunity for someone who enjoys working with computers, networking, cameras, electronics, and other technical equipment. The technician will evaluate new devices in a controlled test environment and may also travel to customer locations to conduct field trials for new hardware, workflows, and use cases.
The ideal candidate is curious, technically inclined, organized, and comfortable troubleshooting problems both independently and with customers and internal team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, configure, test, and troubleshoot hardware used with our SaaS application.
- Evaluate device compatibility, reliability, connectivity, and performance.
- Test equipment such as:
- License plate recognition (LPR) and IP cameras
- RFID readers, antennas, tags, and related equipment
- Industrial touchscreen computers and kiosks
- Printers, scanners, scale indicators, and other peripheral devices
- Network switches, routers, wireless equipment, and cellular devices
- Configure basic wired and wireless networks, including IP addresses, ports, device communication, and connectivity.
- Create test scenarios that reflect real-world customer operating environments.
- Document test procedures, equipment settings, results, issues, and recommended configurations.
- Work with product development, implementation, support, and customer-facing teams to resolve hardware and integration issues.
- Assist with onsite customer trials and pilot installations for new devices, applications, and workflows.
- Observe customer operations and recommend ways to improve hardware placement, configuration, and usability.
- Communicate findings clearly to both technical and nontechnical team members.
- Maintain test equipment, inventory, cabling, tools, and lab work areas.
- Assist with preparing and configuring hardware before it is shipped or installed at a customer location.
- Stay current on relevant hardware, networking, camera, RFID, and industrial-computing technologies., A successful technician will be able to take a new piece of hardware, understand how it communicates, connect it to our platform, test it under realistic conditions, identify potential problems, and clearly document the recommended setup. Over time, this person will become an internal resource for evaluating new hardware technologies and helping customers successfully test new solutions in the field.
Requirements
- Associate degree, technical certification, vocational training, or equivalent hands-on experience in information technology, networking, electronics, computer systems, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of Ethernet, TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, DHCP, static IP addresses, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Comfortable installing and configuring Windows-based computers and connected devices.
- Strong interest in hardware, electronics, networking, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to follow test procedures and accurately document results.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with customers and internal team members.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel occasionally to customer locations.
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
Preferred, but Not Required
- Experience with IP cameras, LPR technology, RFID equipment, industrial computers, kiosks, printers, or other connected devices.
- Familiarity with serial communications, USB devices, APIs, device drivers, or IoT equipment.
- Experience using network diagnostic tools such as ping, traceroute, IP scanners, or packet-capture software.
- Experience working in industrial, construction-materials, trucking, logistics, manufacturing, or outdoor operating environments.
- Previous technical-support, computer-repair, installation, field-service, or help-desk experience., * Computer related technical support and service: 2 years (Required)
