Job description

Join our team as a Technical Support Specialist responsible for deploying, supporting, and troubleshooting advanced voice and data communication systems. In this role, you’ll work hands-on with modern telecommunications infrastructure to keep client networks running smoothly and reliably. Your technical skills will directly support mission-critical business operations and deliver a high-quality customer experience. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, problem-solving, and working in real-world environments!, * Accept direction from dept manager and company superiors on tasks that need to be performed.

  • Respond to Client Support Tickets and work diligently to provide problem resolution or perform moves/adds/changes of VoIP, Internet, and Data Services in a timely manner.
  • Create, update, and reply to support tickets as required.
  • Offer suggestions on problem resolution and escalate to superiors as required to help in-house personnel or customers troubleshoot and solve problems experienced with Nexxis voice, internet, and data services.
  • Assist with configuration and installation of hardware and software pertaining to VoIP services, internet access, peripheral hardware, and mobile devices at customer sites and in-house as required.
  • Perform cable drops, install switches, crimp cables, terminate cables, etc, at customer sites and in-house as required.
  • Load and configure desktop applications for internal and customer use as directed.
  • Provide remote and on-site technical support to troubleshoot and resolve issues for services we provide.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and systems as necessary.

Requirements

Great opportunity for recent technical college grad or equivalent who wants to learn a new industry! (ON-SITE - MELVILLE, NY), * College technical degree or equivalent work experience with technologies pertaining to IT, VoIP, and Internet access.

  • Familiarity with configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of Switches, Routers, IP Phones, Firewalls, Wi-Fi enabled devices, etc.
  • Understanding of general electronic hardware and protocols.
  • Experience with PC hardware/software, switch and router hardware, network connectivity and communications, including Windows 7 through Windows 11 and MAC OS with the ability to install integrated applications in these operating systems and troubleshoot issues.
  • Must have excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Be personable and able to provide outstanding customer service and support.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks as required to effectively manage time.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic that exhibits a high level of attention to accurate detail.
  • Must be able to use hand tools and power tools such as drills, screw drivers, cutting tools, etc.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Must be able to listen, read, write, and speak English clearly
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work, and to NY Metro area client sites.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds (PCs, IP Phones, switches, monitors, printers, etc. as needed)., * Are you currently with a VoIP and Internet Access provider with similar responsibilities ?
  • Do you have experience and are able to do cable drops, crimping cables, terminating cables, etc ?
  • Do you prefer Part-Time or Full-Time employment?
  • Is your educational degree or primary course of study in the area of Technology?
